Mayor MacLeod's Qualifications

Dr. Colleen MacLeod brings extensive experience in community development, program evaluation, and quality improvement to public service. Her career includes leadership roles at the University of Calgary Faculty of Nursing, where she developed comprehensive evaluation programs, policies and surveys and co-led a nationally recognized accreditation process for which the team received a Faculty award. As Quality Practice Leader at Bethany Seniors, she led initiatives that contributed to 99% compliance on 396 health standards during accreditation.

As Social Planning Team Leader for the City of Airdrie, Dr. MacLeod led community needs assessments, facilitated the development of six nonprofit programs, and successfully merged organizations to create more sustainable community services. She co-chaired the establishment of Community Links (formerly North Rocky View Community Resource Centre) and negotiated the merger with Airdrie Family Services—a move that has allowed Community Links to grow to an annual $7 million budget with a vast array of community programs and services. Her independent consulting work has focused on leadership, strategic planning, policy development, and capacity building for nonprofit organizations.

Dr. MacLeod holds a PhD in Education, Master of Social Work, and Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (With Distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan.
